Question Tag

Coba perhatikan kalimat di bawah ini!

Dia sedang menulis, kan?
Bunga ini warna merah, kan?

Mungkin kalian sering mendengar kalimat di atas  dalam bahasa Indonesia. Tapi bagaimana cara mengartikan kata "kan" dalam kalimat tersebut dalam bahasa Inggris?
Tenang! Di sini, kita akan mempelajarinya.

Untuk memperjelas / mempertegas suatu statement dalam bahasa Inggris, biasanya digunakan Question Tag (pertanyaan berekor). Mari lihat penjelasan di bawah untuk lebih mengerti mengenai Question Tag.

Pada kalimat positif, diikuti dengan question tag negatif.

A. Present Simple
 Subject + Verb s/es + O/C  ,  doesn't/don't  + Subject 
e.g. Doni plays computer, doesn't he?
  
  Subject + to be (is, am, are) + Adj / Adv / N  ,  isn't / aren't  + Subject
e.g. Shinta is beautiful, isn't she?

B. Present Continuous
  Subject + to be (is, am, are) + Verb -ing + O/C  ,  isn't / aren't + Subject
e.g. Wirawan and his girlfriend are learning Chinese, aren't they?

C. Past Simple
  Subject + Verb 2 + O/C  ,  didn't + S
e.g. Jack and his friends played football yesterday, didn't they?


D. Past Continuous
  Subject + to be (was, were) + Verb -ing + O/C  ,  wasn't / weren't + Subject
e.g. Erick was watching telly, wasn't he?

E. Modal Auxiliary
  Subject + Will/Shall/Can/May/Must  + Verb 1 + O/C  ,  won't/shan't/can't/mayn't/haven't to + S
e.g. Maya will visit Bali next holiday, won't she?


Pada kalimat negatif, diikuti dengan question tag positif.
  
 
A. Present Simple
 Subject + doesn't/don't +  Verb 1  + O/C  ,  does/do  + Subject 
e.g. Doni doesn't play computer, does he?
  
  Subject + to be (is, am, are) not + Adj / Adv / N  ,  is / are  + Subject
e.g. Shinta isn't ugly, is she?

B. Present Continuous
  Subject + to be (is, am, are)  not + Verb -ing + O/C  ,  is / are+ Subject
e.g. Wirawan and his girlfriend aren't learning Chinese, are they?

C. Past Simple
  Subject + didn't + Verb 1 + O/C  ,  did + S
e.g. Jack and his friends  didn't play football yesterday, did they?


D. Past Continuous
  Subject + to be (was, were) not + Verb -ing + O/C  ,  was / were + Subject
e.g. Erick wasn't watching telly, was he?

E. Modal Auxiliary
  Subject + won't/shan't/can't/mayn't/haven't to  + Verb 1 + O/C  ,  Will/Shall/Can/May/Must  + S
e.g. Maya won't visit Bali next holiday, will she?


Nah, jadi kalian sudah mengerti, kan?
