Hello guys, have you ever heard the story of "Pinocchio" , "Cinderella" , "Snow White" , "Malin Kundang" and so on? Yeah! Those are kinds of Narrative Text .
What is Narrative text? Narrative text is a text that contain the imaginary story to entertain the reader or listener.
Kinds of Narrative Text:
1. Fairy Tales. Fairy Tales is a tale that tell us about magical story. Example: Cinderella, Pinocchio, Snow White, etc.
2. Folk Tales.Folk Tales is a tale that grow from the word-of-mouth in each area of the country. Example: Putri Tujuh, Golden Cucumber, Si Lancang, etc.
3. Legend. Legend is a tale that tell us about the history of some places and the legend have the prove of the story. Example: Lake Toba, Malin Kundang, Sangkuryang, etc.
4. Fable. Fable is a tale that tell about the story that acted by the animal. Example: The Mousedeer and The Crocodile, The Tortoise and The Rabbit, etc.
Narrative text has some generic structure. There are:
1. Title
2. Orientation (to open the story by introducing the character)
3. Complication ( as conflict or problems happened on the story)
4. Resolution (Resolve the problem)
5. Re-orientation (to close the story and contain the Moral Value)
We use Simple Past Tense for Narrative Text!
Pattern:
( + ) S + Verb 2 + Object
E.g. : Cinderella went to the ball.
( - ) S + Did not + Verb 1 + Object
E.g. : Pinocchio did not talk the honest to fairy godmother.
( ? ) Did + S + Verb 1 + Object
E.g. : Did Malin Kundang come back to his village?
To be : Was or Were
E.g. : The witch was very cruel.
